Hipnotic offers the opportunity to have a fun and friendly belly dance
night out.
The event is designed to appeal
to those not yet involved with belly dance (who should go here to find out more) as
well as those that are, so if you're a regular at belly dance events you'll find that on some occasions we are not
as performance heavy as you might expect a Hafla (an evening of Middle
Eastern style entertainment) to be. This is a conscious decision on our
part as we want to provide opportunities for you to catch up with
friends as well as dance and enjoy other people's dancing.Hipnotic will offer a "theme" for your evening of belly dance. The theme will relate to a particular style of belly dance that will be explored in the second Middle Eastern Dance class of the night; for the Follow the Bouncing Butt dance; during the dance sections between performances and classes and will relate to a DVD shown on the screens in the bar.If we're fortunate then some of our performers may offer us a dance that corresponds with the theme, but this is by no means required - if you would like to perform then you may do so to any Middle Eastern or belly dance appropriate style of music. To perform at this event please us the Contact Us page.

The Jazz Cafe cannot offer hot food, but there will be snacks available behind the bar. Our advice would be to eat before you come if that's possible. Or, if you'd prefer us to offer a "Bring a Dish to Share" type event then please let us know using the Contact Us page.

If you've never tried this dance: bring your friends and take a Beginners class, enjoy some quality entertainment from fabulous performers and dance to some great Arabic music.
If you are a belly dancer already: come along with your friends and class-mates and enjoy a great evening out. You could use the classes as a warm-up for the evening if you are performing, or as a way of adding to your skills with either the Middle Eastern class, the Improvised Tribal or the Fusion class. It is also our aim to provide a modicum of education via our themes. Dress code: if you've a costume or belly dance belt you'd like to wear feel free! We generally ask all participants in classes to wear soft flat shoes or to have bare feet. When dancing at other times then please use your judgement about whether to wear shoes or go barefoot.
